Terms of Service
Effective date: March 25, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Publio ("we", "our", "us"), a service that publishes content to LinkedIn on behalf of authorized users via the LinkedIn API. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service Description
Publio is a tool that allows you to publish posts to LinkedIn through AI assistants (such as Claude or ChatGPT) or directly through our API. You authorize Publio to post on your behalf using LinkedIn's official OAuth 2.0 API. Every post requires your explicit instruction — Publio never posts autonomously.
2. User Responsibilities
By using Publio, you agree that you will not use the service to post content that:
- Violates LinkedIn's User Agreement or Community Policies.
- Constitutes spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or bulk posting.
- Contains hate speech, harassment, threats, or discrimination based on protected characteristics.
- Infringes any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Is false, misleading, or deceptive.
- Violates any applicable law or regulation.
You are solely responsible for all content published through your account, including content drafted by AI assistants and published via Publio. Publio does not review, filter, or moderate the content of your posts before publishing.
3. Risks of Third-Party Publishing
By using Publio to publish content to LinkedIn, you acknowledge and accept the following risks:
- Account enforcement. LinkedIn may suspend, restrict, or permanently ban your LinkedIn account if it determines that content published through Publio (or any other means) violates LinkedIn's policies. Publio uses LinkedIn's official API, but this does not exempt you from LinkedIn's content and behavior policies.
- Algorithmic reach reduction. LinkedIn's algorithm may reduce the visibility of posts that it identifies as automated, repetitive, or published at high frequency. This is sometimes referred to as "shadow banning." LinkedIn does not typically notify users when this occurs, and Publio has no control over LinkedIn's content distribution decisions.
- Rate limits. LinkedIn enforces a limit of 150 API requests per day per member. If you exceed this limit — whether through Publio alone or in combination with other tools using the same LinkedIn account — you will be unable to publish for the remainder of the day.
- API key security. Your Publio API key grants full posting access to your LinkedIn account. If you paste your API key into an AI assistant, that key may be stored in conversation history, logs, or training data. Treat your API key with the same care as a password. Revoke and regenerate compromised keys immediately from the dashboard.
Publio is not responsible for any actions LinkedIn takes against your account, including suspension, restriction, content removal, or algorithmic reach reduction.
4. Account and API Keys
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Publio account credentials and API keys. Do not share your API keys with unauthorized parties. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at [email protected] and revoke your API keys from the dashboard.
5. Free Tier
The free tier of Publio is available at no charge. Posts published on the free tier will include the promotional text "Published via Publio AI" appended to the end of each post. This promo text is non-negotiable on the free tier.
6. Paid Tier and Billing
Paid subscriptions remove the promotional text and provide additional features. Subscriptions are billed through Stripe and are subject to the pricing displayed at the time of purchase. You may cancel your subscription at any time from the dashboard; your access will continue until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. Stripe's terms of service govern payment processing — we never store your credit card details.
7. LinkedIn Tokens and Reconnection
LinkedIn access tokens expire after 60 days. LinkedIn's self-serve API tier does not support refresh tokens, so you must reconnect your LinkedIn account from the Publio dashboard when your token expires. We will notify you before expiry. Publio is not responsible for posts that fail to publish due to an expired token.
8. Service Limitations and Risks
You acknowledge the following limitations of the service:
- Duplicate or erroneous posts. Software bugs, network timeouts, or connectivity issues may result in duplicate posts, failed posts, or partial content being published to your LinkedIn account. While we implement safeguards to prevent this, no software is free of defects.
- No post storage. Publio does not store the full text of posts you publish. If incorrect content is published, you must check LinkedIn directly to identify and manage the post.
- No post deletion. Publio does not offer the ability to delete posts from LinkedIn. To remove a published post, you must delete it directly on LinkedIn.
- Promotional text. Free tier posts include "Published via Publio AI" appended automatically. If you publish without previewing (dry_run disabled), the promo text will appear on your LinkedIn profile without a prior review step.
9. Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.
- We are not responsible for any content published to LinkedIn through your account, including duplicate, erroneous, or unintended posts resulting from software defects or network issues.
- We are not responsible for any actions LinkedIn takes against your account as a result of content published through Publio.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of reputation, loss of business opportunities, or LinkedIn account restrictions.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Third-Party API Dependency
Publio relies on LinkedIn's API to function. You acknowledge the following:
- API changes. LinkedIn may modify, restrict, deprecate, or discontinue its API at any time without notice. Such changes may temporarily or permanently affect Publio's ability to publish on your behalf.
- Platform capacity. LinkedIn's self-serve API tier has a lifetime cap on authorized users. If this cap is reached, new users may be unable to connect their LinkedIn accounts until capacity is available.
- Service revocation. LinkedIn may revoke Publio's API access at any time at its discretion. Such revocation would affect all Publio users simultaneously.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: third-party API changes or outages, internet service disruptions, natural disasters, government actions, or changes in applicable law or regulation.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, are engaging in abusive or fraudulent activity, or are causing harm to other users or to LinkedIn's platform. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from the dashboard. Upon termination, your LinkedIn connection and API keys will be immediately revoked.
12. Data and Privacy
Our collection and use of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on the dashboard. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
